Welcome back.
It’s been a hot minute.
Some of you may remember 2020 (I wish I didn’t!!!) was the year that I took to the internet to recap some of my favourite things from the 365 days that had preceded it - the best bangers, the best movies, the best video games, the best things.
I had every intention of making this a yearly tradition, but as unexpected life changes appeared and my shifting mental health rejected watching myself talking into a camera, my plans fell apart every single year for one reason or another.
Luckily, though, I’m a semi-changed man.
I have better taste in media, a refreshed outlook on life, and have had enough therapy to totally numb myself to the concept of being perceived. I’ve changed, and after reflecting on my work over the last almost ten years of my journalism career, I’ve realised that few things bring me joy quite like talking about the things I’m most passionate about, and putting people onto the media that could eventually mean just as much to them as it does to me. So, I’ve decided we’re back.
Now that I have my own platform that has some actual viewers (thank you for that, by the way), I can go a little bigger, and a little more streamlined. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is totally up to you.
Here’s how this is going to work - we’re going to rattle through the art that moved me the most this year - the music, film, books, games and more that moved me this year, and you’re going to enjoy it. Promise.
